McKinley Irvin to Award Scholarships to Law Students
Annual Scholarships Now Available for Law Students Pursuing the Study of Family Law at University of Washington and Seattle University
SEATTLE — McKinley Irvin, Washington State’s largest law firm focused exclusively on divorce and family law, is now awarding annual family law scholarships to University of Washington and Seattle University law students.
- One $2,500 annual scholarship available to students attending the University of Washington School of Law
- One $2,500 annual scholarship available to students attending the Seattle University School of Law
To qualify for either scholarship, the student must be currently enrolled in the law school and express an intention to pursue the study of family law. Applicants for the scholarship will provide a written letter describing their interest in family law as an area of practice.
One scholarship recipient at each school will be chosen annually, based on the applicant’s resume, letter of interest, and other qualifications, such as academic achievement and financial aid situation. Scholarship recipients will receive $2,500 toward the cost of their tuition.
“We’re looking for students who demonstrate potential and enthusiasm for the practice of family law,” said David Starks, managing partner of McKinley Irvin. “Family law is an area of practice that touches on many other areas of law, like business, real estate, tax, and even international law. We also work directly with people on matters that deeply affect their lives. Thus, it takes a special kind of attorney to be a leader in family law—knowledgeable, empathetic, and tenacious. We are excited to support students who have that aptitude.”
